We are very excited to announce that clients of Horus Music will benefit from being one of the first to have their music distributed to the soon-to-be-launched Beats Music Store.

Beats Music is a collaboration between musician Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails, Ian Rogers and the creators of Beats By Dre, including the company’s co-founder Jimmy Iovine.

The service is scheduled to launch in the USA in late January; our clients will have their music sent to Beats Music automatically. The store will expand around the globe but details are not publicly available at this stage. The service will be available the App Store and an Android app is expected to follow shortly. For a monthly subscription, users will receive unlimited access to a catalogue of 20 million songs. It does not appear that they will be offering a 30-day trial.

Beats Music is joining the fight to become the dominant subscription service in the US. They aim to set themselves apart through their stylist design and human curation. This is a concept that worked particularly well for Beats Headphones, and by using the relationships cultivated by its founders.

Nick Dunn, CEO of Horus Music said “This is a very exciting time for clients distributed by Horus Music. Beats Music has been in the pipe line for a long time now so it’s really pleasing to see this come to fruition. We believe our clients will benefit from this excellent partnership, as well as the global rollout program.“

Streaming is still a growing market, although digital downloads declined for the first time in 2013. According to Nielsen Soundscan, digital album sales fell last year by 0.1% from 117.7 million to 117.6 million units from the previous year. Similarly, sales of digital tracks fell by 5.7% from 1.34 billion to 1.26 billion units.
