Continuing with our Top 10 Guilty Pleasure Songs, Business Development Manager Nina explains why these songs are her guilty pleasures.
1. Peter Andre- Mysterious Girl
Peter Andre was someone I liked when I was much younger, primarily for his looks and the fact that he went on Big Brother when that used to be a big deal. I am extremely ashamed to admit that I have seen him in concert.
2. Taylor Swift – 22
Taylor Swift is one of those artists that divides opinion. A lot of guys don’t like her but loads of girls love her. I think she speaks to all women who have ever had their heart broken by a guy. She is pure pop and divides opinion so for me it’s a guilty pleasure.
We would include the original version of 22, but unfortunately Taylor doesn’t like Spotify so we have no choice but to go with this version instead.
3. Britney Spears – Oops!… I Did It Again
This was an artist that I loved in primary School. So much so that I was Britney in our school play, I had posters, CD’s, perfume and even a wallet. So although I’ve grown out if it now, I still know all the words to her songs.
4. Shakira – Whenever, Wherever
Mainly for the lyrics, they really touched me and I live my life by them everyday the poetic lines of: “lucky that my breasts are small and humble so you don’t confuse them with mountains.”
5. Madison Avenue – Don’t Call Me Baby
This is a song that it’s impossible not to like but it doesn’t give you much street cred to admit it. It’s kind of like saying you love Shania Twain or Cheryl Crow.
6. Lilly Allen – LDN
I think this is a guilty pleasure because of the fact that Lilly Allen made wearing trainers and dresses a thing and I don’t know whether it should have been. I also dressed up as Lilly Allen once and I can’t remember why.
7. Pocahontas – Colors of the Wind
There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that is an amazing piece of music but it’s not very cool to admit that you like Disney as it’s something you’re supposed to grow out of.
8. Christina Aguilera – Genie in a Bottle
This is just really 90’s and I think that the majority of 90’s music is a guilty pleasure.
9. Princess Superstar – Bad Babysitter
I literally have no clue why I like this song other than the fact that the lyrics are just stupidly, ridiculously great. Therefore, Bad Babysitter had to go on the list.
10. Dido – White Flag
This is a guilty pleasure because Dido like Enya, or James Blunt are another one of those artists that divides opinion. They’re often the butt of jokes bless them maybe due to the fact that they’re a little dull or depressing? I actually don’t mind all 3 just don’t tell anyone!
